Makeup Forever Matt Velvet Plus

For maybe the past two years my go to foundation, for occasions where I need flawlessly covered but not cakey skin, has been my Makeup Forever Matte Velvet Plus #30. It was from Makeup by TiffanyD that I first ever heard of this brand let alone this product. Part of the oily-skinned-gals club herself, she is someone that I dearly respect and trust in terms of product recommendations.

So I did a little bit of hunting around and came across a website called mediamakeupstore.  Not only are they one of the few Australian disrtibutors of Makeup Forever, but they also have in place a fabulous system that gives you a chance to sample different products for free.  They do have limit, of four samples per order, but you can still try a few different shades to find the perfect match - and they do have such a great range of shades with different tones (pink, beige, yellow etc).

Don't be put off this foundation just because it is advertised as having matte finish. Unlike other standard matte foundations, Matte Velvet Plus doesn't leave your skin looking flat, dull or powdery. It just gives you a non-dewy base to work with, that almost looks airbrushed and leaves your skin looking illuminated from the inside. I am always so impressed with my skin when I use this!

As far as staying power / longevity goes its pretty darn good. The only foundation I have ever found to match it is actually another Makeup Forever product (White Definition Powder). If I am wearing it for hours on end, I do notice that the coverage around my chin and jawline fade slightly, but thats usually the area of my face that I touch the most, from resting on my hand, brushing hair out of my face etc. And if you are using a powder to set it in place, which in my opinion you really don't need but it doesn't hurt, you might not notice any fading at all.
Despite being a high end brand, I honestly don't think the pricing is too outrageous. Yes $61 AUD is a lot of money but I have had my bottle coming on 2 years now and I'm only just running low. With this product a little bit really goes a long way so you don't have to worry about repurchasing too often! I have never had an issue - in the form of breakouts, rashes, bad smell, oxidising (when your foundation slowly starts to develop that orange tinge) etc - with this product and I truly think that if you try it you will agree with me - and those who have tried it I know will back me on this - it is well worth the investment
